The ISB
features a high-pressure common-rail fuel system. The constant flow of fuel produces
quicker throttle response across every rpm. That means more power off the line, and
faster acceleration on highway on-ramps. Constant injection pressures also help
optimize timing for increased fuel efficiency and lower emissions.
Every ISB engine of 245 hp and above features a Variable Geometry Turbocharger from
Holset that constantly adjusts airflow based on engine load, ambient pressure and other
conditions. The result is improved response and stronger clutch engagement torque. This
VG Turbo has a single sliding nozzle, eliminating dozens of parts and increasing
dependability and durability.
The ISB not only delivers lower emissions, it also delivers
increased fuel economy, every mile. Based on field test results, you can expect the
ISB to deliver up to 2% better fuel economy than its predecessor. Cummins ISB makes
every dollar go a little farther.
An unexpected benefit: This ISB not only runs faster on less fuel - it also runs up
to 7 decibels quieter at idle. That's 80% less noise, inside and out. Something every
driver can appreciate. |
